Manchester United are looking at a significant financial upswing thanks to Jadon Sancho’s impressive performance in the Champions League while playing for Borussia Dortmund.

The winger, who had a rocky spell at Old Trafford and was loaned to Dortmund in January due to disagreements with United manager Erik ten Hag, seems to have found his stride again.

Despite struggling to make an impact in Manchester, his recent form with Dortmund has garnered praise.

United splashed out £73 million to secure his services from Dortmund in 2021, and now his success with the German club could bring in extra cash for United.

As reported by BBC Sport, United added clauses in the transfer deal, entitling them to bonus payments based on Sancho’s performances and achievements at Dortmund. These clauses could potentially earn them €4 million (£3.4m) in bonuses.

Considering Sancho’s consistent appearances for Dortmund since his loan move, it’s likely that United will pocket the entire £3.4 million.

Sancho’s time at United saw him score just 12 goals and provide six assists in 82 games. However, since rejoining Dortmund, the former Manchester City academy player has netted three goals and assisted twice in 18 appearances, most of which he started.

With his contract at Old Trafford running until 2026, it has been reported that Dortmund are confident of securing another loan move for the 24-year-old in the summer.

For now, Sancho is gearing up for his first Champions League final—and Dortmund’s third—set to take place on June 1 at Wembley. Their opponents will be decided between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
