Nicolas Jackson scored his first professional goal for Chelsea and Raheem Sterling added a brace as the Blues eased to a first win of the new campaign against Luton Town.

The 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge also marked Mauricio Pochettino’s maiden win of his career as Chelsea manager and it was exactly what the team needed following last week’s 3-1 defeat at West Ham.

Malo Gusto assisted both of Sterling’s goals, one after 17 minutes and another after 68 before Jackson got on the end of Sterling’s cross with 15 minutes to play and sealed the three points.

According to Premier League betting sites, Chelsea’s odds to make the top four are now 8/5 – the sixth-best, but with the recent additions of Moses Caicedo and Romeo Lavia the Blues will fancy their chances.

Caicedo’s full debut was a much improved performance from a disappointing cameo at the London Stadium last week where he conceded a penalty and looked completely out of sorts.

Robert Sanchez kept his first clean sheet for his new side following a £20m move from Brighton earlier this month and he’ll have the chance to add to that with Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest on the horizon.

The contest was an expected mismatch, considering Chelsea (£3 billion) have spent exactly 100 times the amount Luton (£30 million) have in the transfer market since 1992.

Luton have fallen to defeat in both of their opening top-flight encounters and life in the Premier League will prove to be extremely difficult for the Hatters, who are an odds-on 3/10 to face the drop.
