West Ham could emerge as a fresh transfer option for Ivan Toney this summer, as the Hammers are seeking new strike power for next season and have eyes across Europe as they hunt down the perfect candidate.
Ivan Toney Transfer News
We revealed earlier in the month how Youssef En-Nesyri of Sevilla was a leading target and that remains the case. In similar fashion, Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart is also a top target – but Borussia Dortmund are in the conversation to sign him too.
Others are still being detailed, but sources believe Toney could still be a good option for West Ham to look at if Brentford become open minded about his true value in the summer market.
Tottenham and Chelsea are also considering a move for the Bees front man and the general feeling is that the Blues are the only club that might be willing to pay anything like the £50-60 million mooted for him.
Spurs would not look to spend more than £45 million on Toney and West Ham are likely to drop in at just below that figure if they step up interest.
Toney has been included in England’s provisional squad for Euro 2024, whether he makes the cut is likely to impact on how much Brentford price him at when the window opens in June.
The player has ambitions to push on to play for a bigger club, however, Brentford valued him at close to £80 million in the last transfer window and will aim to bring in as much as possible if they are to lose such a key asset.
Toney returned from a betting ban in January and scored four goals in his next five games as he started to underline his value.
That form dropped off though and he did not score in the next 11 Premier League starts from February 17 through to the end of the season.
Toney is currently on holiday in Dubai and when he returns he faces the most important summer of his career, as the Englishman aims to meet personal ambitions for both club and country.
