Manchester United target Benjamin Pavard is reportedly close to agreeing a transfer to Inter Milan from Bayern Munich after snubbing a move to Old Trafford.

Benjamin Pavard is reportedly nearing a move to Inter Milan despite being subject to heavy transfer interest from Manchester United.

The Red Devils had held initial talks with Bayern Munich over the defender’s availability, however they would have to sell players before being able to consider a move for the Frenchman.

Sky Sports News report that Inter are prepared to splash €30million plus add-ons on the 27-year-old, with Bayern already searching for his replacement.

Pavard’s contract is due to expire next summer, therefore in order to gain a fee for his departure – the Bavarians have no other option but to sell him this summer.

Inter’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta was asked about the prospective signing of Pavard, to which he confirmed that the Serie A side are in a good position to secure his signature.

“We won’t announce Benjamin Pavard as new signing today but… we’re in good position,” he said.

“We’re doing our best to sign Pavard, we are ambitious. It’s not an illusion, we feel we can make it happen.”

A World Cup winning right-back, with the ability to turn out as a centre-back too, Pavard will provide a versatile option across the Inter back-line.

His move to Italy would mark the end of a four-year spell with the champions of Germany – a spell in which he won 11 trophies at club level, including the Bundesliga on four occasions, as well as the Champions League in 2019/20.
