Playing Career
Mikel Arteta began his professional career at Barcelona’s youth academy, but only made one first-team appearance. He played a total of 21 minutes in a Copa del Rey match in 2002.
In 2005, after spells at Paris Saint-Germain, Rangers and Real Sociedad, he moved to Everton where he played 162 matches – contributing with 28 goals and 34 assists.

Managerial Career
The 47-year-old began his coaching career as an assistant coach to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, this role spanned from 2016 to 2019, helping the club win two Premier League titles.
Arteta swapped Manchester for London in December 2019, as he was appointed by the club he once played for – Arsenal In his first full season as a head coach, the Spaniard led Arsenal to FA Cup and Community Shield glory.
