BANKER: 1:50 Huntingdon: DOC McCOY 5/4

From the Jamie Snowden yard and connections look to have found a good opportunity for him on his first run over hurdles. Former winning pointer that showed good form in bumpers last season despite not winning, but is expected to improve now tackling hurdles and also upped in trip slightly.

LAY OF THE DAY: 7:0o Newcastle: SPIRIT OF BOWLAND 2/1

CD winner at the track and in his defence ran without a shoe the last day, when third of 8. However, also struggled the time before off his new mark (same as today), when 7th (of 13) at Newcastle and so has a bit to prove for us off a rating of 59 – which is 7lbs higher than his last success.

STAT HORSE: 8:00 Newcastle: LADY CELIA 3/1

The Alan Brown yard are in great order at the moment and they also boast an impressive 22% strike-rate (+133.58) at Newcastle with their 4+ year-olds, which is the best on show from the yards in this race.

This 6 year-old mare was also a nice winner over this course and distance last time out and a 4lb rise for that doesn’t look too harsh. Well drawn again in 3 and still looks capable off this new mark (64) having run well off 68 a few seasons back
