The horse racing NAP of the Day on Sunday, 16 October with SportsLens tipsters is Nos Na Gaoithe. She runs in the 3m novice hurdle at Cork this afternoon (1:55). Next Best with our experts is Boombawn in Kempton’s Listed 2m novice hurdle (2:50). Storm Lorenzo, meanwhile, looks worth backing each way in the 3m 5f Durham National Handicap Chase at Sedgefield (3:50).

Why will horse racing NAP of the Day Nas Na Gaoithe win?
Master Irish trainer Willie Mullins has a 33 per cent strike rate over the last fortnight and also at Cork over the last five seasons. His runner in the 3m novice hurdle (1:55), NOS NA GAOITHE, is an extended bumper winner on racecourse debut with a stamina laden pedigree. All of the top betting sites think she has been running over the wrong trip. Nos Na Gaoithe is out of the same dam as Rathvinden, a previous inmate of the yard.
That one won the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham Festival and placed in a Grand National. Stamina shouldn’t be an issue for Nos Na Gaoithe, especially considering how she shaped at this venue in May. She went down fighting by a head that dey over 2m 3f and lost out by the same margin at 2m 4f during Listowel’s Harvest Festival last time out.
Allotted an opening mark of 121, Nos Na Gaoithe gets a 7lb sex allowance from the geldings here. On adjusted figures, that puts her clear of those with a eating. Nos Na Gaoithe is thus our horse racing NAP of the Day for 16 October. A £10 punt on her with 888Sport returns £27.50 if she does make a successful step up in trip.

Boombawn NB bet at Kempton for Team Skelton
Dan Skelton saddled the winner of the Listed 2m novice hurdle at Kempton Park races in 2014, and his BOOMBAWN has a similar profile (2:50). This five-year-old Dylan Thomas gelding has made the frame on all seven career starts. Only progressive Nicky Henderson mare Theatre Glory proved too good for him on his racecourse bow in a Worcester bumper. The winner has since landed five of her six hurdles starts and earned a 137 rating.
Boombawn ran into some very good horses last season, including subsequent Supreme Novices’ Hurdle runner-up Jonbon on his debut over the obstacles. Minor wins at Southwell and Ffos Las followed before an eye-catching handicap bow at Sandown races on his last outing. Only Knappers Hill was too strong for Boombawn off a 1lb lower mark.
As the winner came out and landed Silver Trophy at Chepstow last Saturday, this adds substance to that form. With those race results working out well and the only previous hurdles winner in this line-up, Boombawn rates our NB bet to the horse racing NAP of the Day, Nos Na Gaoithe. The Skelton stable posted a profitable 20 per cent win ratio at Kempton last term, so they can build on that here.

Storm Lorenzo solid each way value in Durham National
In the feature 3m 5f Durham National Handicap Chase at Sedgefield (3:50), STORM LORENZO could have even more to offer stepping up in trip. Trained by Rebecca Menzies just three miles from the course, this seven-year-old Doyen gelding has a couple of victories at another Northeast track in Hexham this season.
After already making up into a better chaser than he was a hurdler, Storm Lorenzo is the last horse not out of the handicap here. Up 4lb for his latest success, a mark of 105 still looks very workable. It translates to a nice racing weight of 10st 3lb, which makes Storm Lorenzo attractive on horse racing betting sites to punters, especially as he’s shaped like a longer distances should suit. There’s more to come too.
While he is 5/1, it’s possible to break even with an each way bet if Storm Lorenzo hits the frame. This looks an interesting option for punters with Nathan Moscrop again aboard. Placing a £10 bet on Storm Lorenzo, our horse racing NAP of the Day in Nos Na Gaoithe, or Boombawn, qualifies new customers who sign up for £40 in bonuses with more info below…
