Hermes Allen Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle Odds
Day 2 of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival gets underway on Wednesday afternoon with the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at 1.30pm. One of the standout horses in that race is the Paul Nicholls trained Hermes Allen. The British racing trainer will be hopeful of one of his star horses kicking off Day 2 in the best possibly fashion with a victory.
Nicholls trains the current second betting favourite in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle – Hermes Allen.
The 6-year-old gelding currently sits at odds of around 7/2 with the best horse racing betting sites. Hermes Allen has won his last three straight starts, including round this course at the Cheltenham Festival last year.
Last time out, he won at a caner at Newbury in the Grade 1 Coral Challow Novices’ Hurdle by four-and-three-quarter-lengths. Due to his performances in recent runs, he is rightfully amongst the betting favourites here and one of the leading horses in the race.
The French gelding has won at Cheltenham before, at the Festival last year in this exact race. He certainly looks a strong horse and looks the one to beat here as he aims to win back-to-back Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle’s.

In terms of Cheltenham odds, Hermes Allen could well shorten as the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle race approaches. He could even go into the race as favourite potentially, depending on the movement in the betting market.
Two Willie Mullins’ horses in Impaire Et Passe and Gaelic Warrior could be Hermes Allen’s biggest threats, along with Barry Connell’s Good Land. Hall of Fame trainer Nicky Henderson also has an entry in the shape of Persian Time.
Nicholls’ 6-year-old is second in the betting behind Mullin’s Impaire Et Passe. If you think Mullins or Henderson could pip Nicholls in the Ballymore, then you can still check out Willie Mullins vs Nicky Henderson head-to-head racing stats and net worth by clicking the link.
