Nigeria’s AFCON campaign got off to a disappointing start when they drew against Equatorial Guinea, but their win against Ivory Coast has put the Super Eagles firmly back on track.
Only one point separates the three teams vying to advance, and a point for Nigeria here would be enough to book their place in the next round.
Bottom-placed Guinea-Bissau, meanwhile, are already out of the tournament, having lost both of their first two games.
Even if they win here, they still wouldn’t be able to close the three-point gap with third-placed Ivory Coast, who beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 on Matchday 1 and thus remain above them due to a superior head-to-head record.
The match will mark Nigeria’s 100th AFCON game, becoming the fourth nation to reach that tally after Egypt, Ghana, and Ivory Coast. Interestingly, only Ivory Coast managed to win their landmark game.
