Gibraltar vs Republic of Ireland Preview
Group B’s bottom two sides in Gibraltar and the Republic of Ireland meet on Monday evening in European Championship qualifying, with Stephen Kenny keen to get his side back to winning ways after three successive defeats.
Neither side can secure automatic qualification to Euro 2024, therefore there is little but pride to play for during Monday’s meeting at the Estadio Algarve.
Gibraltar come into the clash off a seventh successive defeat in all competitions, losing out 4-0 in a friendly to a heavily rotated Wales side at Wrexham’s Racecourse last Wednesday.
As for Ireland, they suffered another disappointing night at the Aviva Stadium on Friday, losing 2-0 to Greece thanks to goals from Giorgos Giakoumakis and Giorgos Masouras.
The Republic’s sole victory of the campaign thus far came in the reverse fixture back in June when Michael Johnston, Evan Ferguson and Adam Idah grabbed a goal apiece to secure a 3-0 victory in Dublin.

Republic of Ireland Team News
Kenny typically opts for a 3-4-2-1 or a 3-4-3 formation, but we expect that his side will be rotated for this one and that a more attacking formation may be deployed. Brighton superstar Evan Ferguson can be hopeful for another start for his nation, in what would be his eighth senior international cap.
