Gary Neville says that he never had the Red Devils down as title winners this season, after Manchester United were embarrassed 7-0 to Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield.

Liverpool were marginal favourites coming into the huge Premier League clash on Sunday however nobody was expecting the Reds to come out on top by seven goals, with Manchester United hit by a huge reality check from Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Sky Sports pundit and United legend Gary Neville had some harsh words for his former side after the full-time whistle at the weekend, but said that he never has the Reds down as title winners this season.

“I never had them down as title winners, to be fair, not at one point this season,” said Neville.

“I think it’s a miracle that Erik ten Hag has got them where he has, so that’s not a disappointment, for me today. It’s more of a surprise in the second half. This is out of character.”

Ten Hag’s side capitulated in the second half and after only conceding one in the opening 45, the team currently third in the Premier League conceded six in the second half to provide one of the most shocking score-lines of the season so far.

The loss to their bitter rivals mean that United remain third in the league, with the gap between them and Manchester City growing to nine points and almost killing the title charge for Ten Hag and his men before it had even begun.

The latest title odds indicate that Manchester United are now 40/1 to do the impossible this season and finish as Premier League champions, however with Arsenal now 14 points ahead of United the dream of a quadruple looks to be over.
