England manager Gareth Southgate admitted that his attackers did not “quite click” as the side were held to a 1-1 draw by Ukraine in their Euro 2024 qualifier.
Southgate Critical Of Attackers In 1-1 Draw With Ukraine
The draw in Wroclaw, Poland ended England’s 100% record in Group C having won all of their four previous games in the qualifiers.
Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko opened the scoring for the hosts with their only shot on target in the game.
Kyle Walker equalised for England just before half time, with his first international goal. Harry Kane played a perfect ball in behind the Ukraine defence, and the Manchester City defender finished the move off well.

Despite dropping two points, the Three Lions remain in a strong position at the top of the group with 13 points.
The England boss was speaking on his side’s performance after the game: “We’re not going to win every game by fours and sevens,” said Southgate.
“That was a really good test – away from home, very passionate atmosphere, quite a few changes forced from the last game.
“Sometimes, especially with attacking play, it doesn’t quite click. We know that patterns that we worked during the week are what we always do, so it’s not that we approach the game in a different way.”
England face Scotland next in a friendly at Hampden Park, who are unbeaten in their Euro 2024 qualifying group after winning all five of their games so far. Steve Clarke’s side sit top of Group A on 15 points, having conceded just one goal in the campaign so far.
It will be another tough test for the Three Lions, who have not beat their noisy neighbours since 2016.
