Brentford are reportedly interested in former Liverpool midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but will face competition from Saudi Arabia.

The Englishman will be playing his football outside of Anfield for the first time in over five years after the Reds did not offer him an extended deal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Roberto Firmino were three of the host of players that were released by the club, with Chamberlain yet to a suitor.

The red side of Merseyside have endured a difficult season, as Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to qualify for the Champions League and will play Europa League football for the first time in almost six-years.

This has impacted their negotiations in the summer window, as Jude Bellingham looked set to join the Reds, however after failing to qualify for Europe, Klopp’s side were pipped by Real Madrid.

Liverpool have replaced Oxlade-Chamberlain with a host of midfield reinforcements, with the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai moving to Anfield.

Since leaving Anfield, a host of clubs have shown interest in the 28-year-old and last season’s Premier League high-flyers, Brentford, are said to be keen on landing Oxlade-Chamberlain’s signature.

The former Arsenal player made 146 appearances under Jurgen Klopp, contributing to 33 goals and winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

The Bees have been very proactive in the summer window, signing Nathan Collins from Wolves and Mark Flekken from SC Freiburg.

German winger, Kevin Schade, who was on loan at the club last season has seen his deal been made permanent this summer and joined for around £20m.

Supporters will still be concerned for the 2023-23 season, as Ivan Toney will be out until January due to a host of gambling violations.
