Roma have reportedly been offered the chance to sign former Bayern Munich and Germany defender Jerome Boateng and could sign him in the coming weeks.

Jerome Boateng Offered To Roma

Jose Mourinho’s side have been plagued with injuries in recent weeks and are without key defenders.

Chris Smalling and Diego Llorente are both sidelined and Marash Kumbulla is ruled out for the long term. Also, Evan Ndicka looks likely to be departing for AFCON in January, so Roma are in need of some reinforcements.

Roma are only considering low cost options due to financial implications and the experience of Boateng could be a good option for the side.

The 35-year-old has reportedly been offered to Italian giants after his rumoured return to Bayern Munich fell through in the last few days. Boateng had been training with the squad but ended up not receiving a contract offer.

Last seen playing for Lyon, Boateng seems keen to get back onto the playing field after being released by the Ligue 1 club after two years on their books. He made 32 appearances in that time after signing as a free agent back in 2021.

It is reported that the veteran defender is asking for a one-year contract with an option to extend at the end of it. This could be an issue for the Serie A side who are only looking for a short term option.

Free agents Shkodran Mustafi and former Manchester United defender Phil Jones are also being considered by Mourinho.
