Nottingham Forest have agreed a £47.5m bid for Brennan Johnson from Spurs on deadline day. The forward scored 10 goals for them last season and was an integral part of the club as they managed to stay up last season.

Spurs are left with a bit of a hole in the striker position following the sale of their all time leading scorer Harry Kane. Richarlison has played in that role so far this season but his goal in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday was just his 4th goal in all competitions since joining Spurs for £60m from Everton in July 2022.

Spurs need a striker who’s going to get them goals and Johnson might just be the solution to that problem. Johnson normally plays on the wing for Forest but with that role occupied by Kuluveski, Johnson is more likely to be starting up top for Spurs.

His pace and work rate will be exactly what Postecoglou is looking for to help bolster the attacking threat that’s needed for his side.

Johnson is all set for his medical this evening and they’ll be hoping everything is done and dusted before the transfer window shuts at 11pm tonight. £47.5m is a hefty fee but that’s the going rate for quality in football nowadays.

Spurs are also looking at Chelsea midfielder Connor Gallagher but no official bid has been made yet. It is understood that Spurs would need to offload a few players first before making a move for Gallagher.
