Folarin Balogun scored his first goal for the USMNT on just his second appearance and the youngster provided an update on his Arsenal future following his CONCACAF success.

USA won 2-0 against Canada to secure the CONCACAF Nations League on Sunday night, with 21-year-old Folarin Balogun on the scoresheet for the champions.

Arsenal’s young striker has been on loan at Stade De Riems for the past season and he has been shining in Ligue 1, with 21 goals in a spectacular debut campaign.

After finishing joint fourth in the golden boot race last season, Balogun has sent a clear message to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta with his intentions for next season.

“I’m not sure [about] the discussions that are going to take place,” he said.

“I’m not sure what’s going to happen. But I’m just committed to now; I try to stay present. I obviously want to enjoy the moment with my team and my family.

“What I can say is that I definitely won’t go on loan again.”

Following a standout season in France last year, Balogun is now sought after by teams in the Premier League as well as across Europe.

Balogun signed a new deal with the Gunners in 2021 but has spent the majority of his time on loan at Middlesborough and Stade De Riems.

Arsenal’s current striking options are Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. Jesus scored 11 goals in 26 games last season, but missed out on 12 games after picking up an injury at the World Cup.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly in talks to sign Chelsea’s Kai Havertz this season, which could mean that Balogun is forced to compete for a spot with three players.

The new USMNT recruit has made his intentions for next season clear, as he refuses to go on loan again away from the Emirates.
