Conte signed 14 players during his spell as Spurs boss which is expected to come to an end later this week after the Italian unleashed an attack on the players and board following Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Southampton.

Compared to £57m on five players under Nuno Espirito Santo and £131m on ten players under Jose Mourinho, Conte has received significantly more backing but has failed to produce consistent results.

Spurs were knocked out of the Champions League round of 16 and are struggling to keep up with the top four race amid pressure from Liverpool and Newcastle. On top of things, Harry Kane’s contract is nearing expiry.

The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and it has been suggested that a potential move for Mauricio Pochettino relies on Kane’s status as a Tottenham Hotspur player.

According to Premier League betting sites, Ryan Mason is the favourite to become the next manager and take charge until the end of the season. This doesn’t seem to be the fanbase’s preferred option however, with the majority in favour of Pochettino.

There is also a scenario where Conte remains in his position until the end of the campaign when his contract expires, but after Saturday’s outburst it’s unlikely the former Chelsea manager would be able to command the dressing room properly.
