FPL Bargains

The summer transfer window is in full swing and there are plenty more ingoings and outgoings to be confirmed. However, with players now able to access the app to start building their teams, we are running you through what we believe to be the best FPL bargains ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

FPL Bargains – 2023/24

Julio Enciso – Brighton (£5.5m)

Brighton have mastered the art of scouting, particularly in South America. The likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo and Facundo Buonanotte were all signed directly from clubs on the continent.

One player who certainly caught the eye at the tail end of last season was Julio Enciso, who should have a larger role to play in the upcoming campaign after proving his worth.

The 19-year-old scored four goals and added two assists in Brighton’s final 12 games, including two separate goal of the season-worthy strikes against Chelsea and Manchester City.

Although the likes of Kauro Mitoma and Solly March also impressed as Brighton qualified for Europe, Enciso should benefit from even more game time as Roberto De Zerbi is forced to rotate to facilitate midweek games.

At just £5.5m, the Paraguayan is worth taking a chance on.

Sven Botman – Newcastle (£4.5m)

A popular choice for Fantasy players last season, Sven Botman formed a formidable partnership with Fabian Schar at the heart of Newcastle’s defence in his debut season.

At £4.5m, we think he still represents excellent value given the Magpies’ conceded the joint-least goals alongside champions Manchester City last season. He also lent a helping hand in keeping 14 clean sheets across his 36 league appearances.

In total, the Dutchman scored 129 Fantasy Premier League points last term – for reference, his teammate Kieran Trippier was the highest scoring defender with 198.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 1 Picks: FPL Selections to Get the Season Up and Running

Aaron Ramsdale – Arsenal (Estimated to be £5 – £5.5m)

Although Arsenal’s man between the sticks is yet to be handed an official price, we estimate it to be around £5m.

For all the Gunners’ end-of-season transgressions, a fully-fit defence protected by one of the most efficient ball winners in the league in Declan Rice should make them a tough team to break down.

Prior to the World Cup break, Arsenal conceded just 14 times in five months – a run of 16 games – and having William Saliba fully fit alongside Gabriel should make them a solid unit once more.

Ramsdale was also integral in keeping his side’s title hopes alive until the final few weeks of the season, producing some truly outstanding individual performances – away at Anfield springs to mind.

The 25-year-old also finished just 23 points behind the highest-scoring goalkeeper in last year’s Fantasy Premier League.

Bryan Mbeumo – Brentford (£6.5m)

It will be interesting to see how Brentford, who were one of the success stories of last season, fair without their top scorer Ivan Toney.

Their main source of goals will not feature until January of next year after being handed a ban for gambling breaches, so it befalls to the Bees’ other forwards to step forward in his absence.

We have selected Bryan Mbeumo as one of our bargain picks given his registered 17 goals involvements in 38 appearances last season, including five goals and three assists in Toney’s absence at the end to amass 48 points.

It is also worth noting that his official position has been changed on the app to a midfielder, while Brentford should benefit from a favourable run of games at the start of the season – they only face one of last season’s top seven in the first seven rounds.

Best FPL Newcomers 2023/24

Connor Roberts – Burnley (£4.5m)

Burnley’s immediate promotion back to the Premier League saw Vincent Kompany implement a forward-thinking, expressive brand of football, the like of which fans at Turf Moor had never seen.

In particular, the Clarets’ high-pressing full-backs are integral to the way they play, with Ian Maatsen and our bargain pick Connor Roberts proving their worth at either end of the pitch.

Roberts racked up four goals and six assists as a genuine attacking threat, while he also helped Burnley keep 18 clean sheets in the Championship last season.
