Arsenal have finally agreed a deal with West Ham for Declan Rice, as Fabrizio Romano confirmed the signing’s completion on Tuesday night with his trademark ‘Here We Go’.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the new Arsenal signing with his trademark catchphrase on Tuesday night, as the Gunners finally got their man for £105m.

The fee of £105m agreed with West Ham will make Rice the second most expensive British signing in history, after Jude Bellingham signed for Real Madrid for £115m earlier in the window.

Arsenal have been after Rice since the beginning of the window and although Manchester City pulled out of the race last week to avoid ‘a bidding war’, the deal for the Gunners was still far from complete.

Edu and Mikel Arteta were crucial in the deal according to Fabrizio, who broke the news that the club’s had finally agreed a deal late on Tuesday night.

The delays for the deal came as West Ham were unhappy with the Gunners’ payment structure, but Arsenal will now pay £100m for the Hammers captain as well as £5m in add ons.

Rice became West Ham’s captain following the departure of Mark Noble in 2022 and the 24-year-old managed to lead his side to UEFA Conference League glory last year in a sensational farewell year.

Although Rice may not break the transfer record for a British player, he has absolutely smashed Arsenal’s previous record of £72m paid for Nicolas Pepe in 2019.

The arrival of Rice could also trigger the exit of Thomas Partey this summer, who is hoping for a move to elsewhere in Europe rather than a transfer to Saudi Arabia.

It isn’t just Rice joining Arsenal this summer however, as the Gunners are close to agreeing a deal for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber and they have already signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea in a busy summer.
