Arsenal’s main transfer target this summer has been Declan Rice since day one and despite the recent lack of news around the deal, Fabrizio Romano has denied all rumours of the transfer falling through.

There has been no news surrounding the Declan Rice transfer since Manchester City pulled out of the deal last week, but Arsenal fans can remain confident that they will get their man this summer.

Fabrizio Romano spoke on Monday afternoon, confirming that a deal for Rice is close to being completed despite the lack of recent updates.

“What I can say guys is this is really close. Trust me, really, really close for Declan Rice to Arsenal.

“The rumours that circulated today on social media about Arsenal or West Ham walking away from the deal, at the moment, I’m told this is not correct, while I’m speaking. The negotiation is very advanced. It’s really at the final bits, they are discussing the final points of this story.

“The medical has not been booked yet, but it will happen in the next days if everything goes to plan. So, no worries, Arsenal fans. Declan Rice is really close and it’s about the final discussions on the payment terms to get it done.”

The Gunners have reportedly agreed a deal worth £105m for Rice this summer, which would make the West Ham captain the second most expensive English signing in history after Jude Bellingham signed for Real Madrid last month.

Signing Rice could take Arsenal to a level much higher than last season, as Mikel Arteta prepares for his side’s return to the Champions League next year.

Arsenal have also already secured Kai Havertz from Chelsea and look likely to complete the signing of Ajax defender Jurrien Timber this week for a fee of around £38m.
