Joleon Lescott says he is shocked by Manchester City‘s recent dip in form and admits his former side need a “kick up the backside” to get back to winning ways.
Joleon Lescott Shocked By City’s Slump in Form
The ex-City star can’t believe his former side have lost three of their last four games with last season’s treble winners struggling as of late.
Pep Guardiola’s side lost in the Carabao Cup to Newcastle United then recorded back-to-back defeats in the Premier League for the first time since 2018, losing to Wolves and Arsenal.
Whilst the Cityzens have a 100% record in the Champions League from their first two games, they now sit 3rd in the league, two points off top spot which is currently occupied by Tottenham.

The 41-year-old was speaking on City: “I hope it (their recent results) gives them a boot up the backside,” said Lescott.
“I think they were aware that Arsenal would be a team that challenges them this year.
“The Wolves one was difficult. Wolves have always been difficult, they’ve always been a half bogey team for City. It was a surprise, but it happens.
“But the Arsenal defeat has hopefully added motivation for them.”
Despite the poor run of form, the two-time Premier League winner is confident that Guardiola’s side can get back to their best soon and retain the title once again
“City have hit a level of consistency that has been unmatched over the past six or seven years,” added Lescott. “That means they are able to catch teams.
“If you know you want to win the league and finish above Man City, you know you have to beat Man City. I think that was a factor as well.”
