Everton failed to win for the sixth consecutive Premier League game and remain in the relegation zone with six games to play after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

The Toffees registered an xG of 0.42 and failed to create anything noteworthy in 90 minutes, with the main highlight being Mason Holgate’s second yellow card after 80 minutes which the hosts failed to pounce on.

A lacklustre encounter at Selhurst Park, Roy Hodgson will be contempt with the result which leaves Palace comfortably mid-table in 12th without the imminent threat of relegation – an impressive turnaround following the sacking of Patrick Vieira.

Everton, however, are not quite as comfy. The club is inching ever closer to a first relegation in 72 years – Everton were last relegated in the 1950/51 campaign and have been in the top flight ever since 1954/55.

Everton Relegation Odds

  • Southampton @ 1/12
  • Nottingham Forest @ 1/4
  • Leicester City @ 5/6
  • Everton @ 1/1
  • Leeds @ 9/4
  • Bournemouth @ 14/1
  • West Ham @ 16/1

The result leaves Everton 18th and level on points with Leicester, who earned a late win against Wolves to mark a first victory in 11 games. The Foxes have a significantly better goal difference than Everton which will be hard to erase.

Sean Dyche’s side face a tough run-in as well. Next up a trip to St. James’ Park to face European hopefuls Newcastle United followed by a relegation clash with Leicester to open the final month of the season.

Brighton will certainly be a difficult game away from home and hosting Manchester City is never anyone’s cup of tea. The final two games are winnable against Wolves and Bournemouth, but Everton will need more than they showed today.

The Toffees missed Seamus Coleman and Amadou Onana with injury whilst midfield general Abdoulaye Doucoure was suspended.

With an implied probability of 50% to be relegated according to Premier League betting sites, the club’s status in England’s top flight relies on the flip of a coin.
