Everton are reportedly close to signing Leeds United star, Wilfried Gnonto, as the Italian looks to leave Elland Road this summer.

The Toffee’s are said to be heavily interested in the Leeds United winger, as Sean Dyche looks to improve his squad after a difficult 2022-23 campaign at Goodison Park.

Frank Lampard held the reigns in Merseyside for the opening weeks of the 2022-23 campaign, after keeping Everton in the Premier League during the season prior – however the Brit was relieved of his duties in January.

Winning just once in 11 matches, the former Chelsea manager was in  a relegation battle and Sean Dyche was appointed to keep the club in England’s top-flight.

On the final day of the campaign, Dyche’s side narrowly defeated Bournemouth, securing their survival and giving them a huge boost this summer.

A deal for the Italian international could prove difficult, as a fee is yet to be agreed and Leeds are keen to keep a hold of their star players after dropping into the Championship last season.

The Whites were swept aside by Tottenham Hotspur in their last league fixture, confirming their place in the bottom three alongside Leicester City and Southampton.

Sam Allardyce was unable to keep the Yorkshire-based club in England’s top-flight, failing to win a single match during his four-game tenure.

Relegation has already brought a host of exits this summer, as Rodrigo and Rasmus Kristensen have both left the club on a permanent basis.

Gnonto had an impressive opening season in the Premier League, making 24 appearances and contributed to six goals.

However, the Italian fell out-of-favour towards the latter stages of the season, as he only played a full 90 minutes once during Leeds United’s final 10 matches.

The Italian has four years remaining on his deal in Yorkshire, meaning any bid will need to be around £30-40m to acquire his services for next season.
