Everton remained two points adrift of Premier League safety on Thursday night after Newcastle easily fought off the relegation threatened side with a 4-1 win.
With both Leicester and Leeds dropping points this week, Thursday night was Everton’s opportunity to leapfrog two sides out of the drop zone and to relative Premier League safety with a win against Newcastle.
The Magpies had other ideas however and they were quick off the mark, with Callum Wilson scoring his first of the game as he poked home a saved Joelinton shot from close range.

The remaining four goals of the game all came after the 70th minute, as first Joelinton doubled the visitors advantage with his eighth goal of the season for Newcastle.
Callum Wilson was able to grab his second of the game just two minutes after Joelinton doubled Newcastle’s lead, as the striker curled an effort worthy of goal of the month into the top right corner to seal all three points for the visitors.

Dwight McNeil was able to spoil the Newcastle party briefly in the 81st minute, as the Everton winger pulled a goal back and made the game a little more interesting with just under ten minutes to play.
Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy were both scorers against Spurs on Sunday and after the pair came off the bench on Thursday they linked up beautifully to seal the game for Newcastle.
Isak took on the entire Everton squad with a breathtaking dribble through the opposition half, before he squared the ball to Murphy who couldn’t miss from yards out.

The loss to Newcastle seems to have all but condemned an Everton side struggling for points and form, as Sean Dyche’s side are priced at 1/2 to be relegated this season.
