A rampant, relentless Manchester City are in pursuit of a third successive Premier League title. With the final approach to the season’s end already taking shape, we are looking at Manchester City’s run-in record under Pep Guardiola since his arrival.

Manchester City Run-In Record Under Pep Guardiola

With Manchester City having played 27 games at the time of writing, we will use their final 11-game record in each of Pep Guardiola’s seven full seasons in charge so far.

In two out of the seven seasons, he has masterminded at least an 11-game unbeaten streak to claim the Premier League title in both, including a spectacular 100% record in 2017-18’s record-breaking 100-point season.

In fact, across seven seasons of run-ins, Guardiola’s unrelenting City side have only ever lost nine games out of a possible 77, drawing nine and winning 59.

Last season’s triumph, which saw the Cityzens clinch their fifth title under the Spaniard, resulted in one of the most enthralling run-ins in recent memory as they locked horns with Arsenal in the final months of of the campaign. In their final 11 games, they dropped just four points, all of which came after they had been confirmed champions.

This of course, does not bode well for Arsenal and Liverpool, who are also locked into this season’s breathtaking three-horse title race.

The former let a seemingly unassailable lead at the summit slip in the space of two games, leaving a ruthless City side to pounce last season. For a side, who until last year, had failed to finish in the top four since 2016, the fact that they managed to compete for so long was an achievement in itself.

Comparing the title run-ins of the three, it is hard to decipher who has the more generous fixture list, although on paper it appears to be Arsenal. They do of course face a trip to the Etihad, where they have failed to win since January 2015.

March could prove to be a transformative month in the makeup of the top three. Liverpool welcome Man City to Anfield in the latest instalment of Guardiola vs Klopp, before the aforementioned City vs Arsenal fixture throws another title race twist our way at the end of the month.
