Man Utd boss Erik Ten Hag was quizzed over his tactics in his press conference ahead of their game against Burnley on Saturday night.

Ten Hag’s men have faced three defeats in a row and they look to turn that around soon. Ten Hag insists his team will fight to return to form.

He was asked if he’s surprised by the challenges he’s had to face so far at this time at the club: “No. It’s my second year, I know it’s not always only going up, you will have gaps and you can get stronger from it. That’s what we are doing in the dressing room, with all staff and coaches. Everyone is united and at United you fight.”

The feud between Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho has been ongoing since the winger hit back at the managers comments about him. Ten Hag has asked for an apology from Sancho, he is yet to be given one.

Ten Hag was asked about a potential transfer for Sancho in January, saying : “It depends on him. For the rest, we are preparing for Burnley and that is our focus. He will not be in the squad.”

Goalkeeper Andre Onana had a howler against Bayern Munich in their 4-3 defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Ten Hag isn’t putting the blame on Onana and asks more from his players ahead of tomorrow’s action.

He added: “It’s about the team and as a team we haven’t been getting results. Individuals haven’t brought the performance you expect and it’s not only one player but more, including the manager.

“It’s not about from the back, it’s about 11 players doing their job. I said many times, we attack with 11 and defend with 11, so when one or two don’t do their job then it goes like a pack of cards.

“At United you have to win every game so the mentality doesn’t change. As always, it’s about how we play against Burnley. There is no easy game, especially against Burnley. We know how intense they play and I must say I like their approach and their adventure. I like the intensity and dynamics. We must play our best.”

Finally, Ten Hag was asked whether any players who trained with the squad after coming back from injury will feature in tomorrow’s game. “Maguire, maybe,” he went on. “We will see after training. Varane, [Sofyan] Amrabat and [Mason] Mount will all train and then we’ll see but all haven’t played for longer term.”
