Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says that Jadon Sancho is a “brilliant footballer” and that his destiny is “in his own hands” after scoring on his Premier League return.

Sancho was introduced as a second-half substitute, and netted a 70th minute equaliser to secure a point for Manchester United.

It was the 22-year-old’s first Premier League goal since September, with his last coming in a 1-0 win over Leicester City.

The England international has now returned after recovering from physical and mental issues, which saw him take part in a personalised fitness programme out in the Netherlands with coaches recommended by Erik ten Hag.

He made his return to football in the Carabao Cup last week, coming on as a second-half substitute.

Ten Hag’s Comments

The United boss had plenty of praise for the young forward after his goalscoring league return.

“I’m very happy. He’s on the way back. We know he is a magnificent football player.” he said.

“He can definitely for our team be a big impact. Tonight he had, but we know he can be a consistent impact. He has to work very hard, we all do, and in this moment he is in a good mood.
