Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed that new signing Marcel Sabitzer will be included in tomorrow’s squad to play Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils confirmed the signing on loan until the end of the season on deadline day, offering Erik ten Hag further depth in midfield after the news of Christian Eriksen’s untimely injury.

Sabitzer made 15 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich this season including seven starts, scoring once and assisting once.

The German champions were reportedly reluctant to let the 28-year-old leave on a permanent deal and only discussed loan options with United without an option or obligation to buy.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Crystal Palace, ten Hag confirmed that the former RB Leipzig midfielder will be a part of the squad at Old Trafford.

“He did only one session but you can see he’s a very fit player. I think he is ready to play. It could be [that he starts].”

Ten Hag was also asked on his assessments of the player, to which he replied with the utmost praise.

“Very good. Of course, he did only one session but you can see he’s a very fit player and I didn’t have different expectations coming from Bayern Munich, German, their fitness is always good. I think he is ready to play.

“I think he’s a really smart player and I think we gave him some guidance but he knows what to do, he knows the job.”

What will Marcel Sabitzer do for Manchester United’s hunt for silverware?

Sabitzer is known as a versatile midfielder, able to play in both attacking and defensive roles with a well-balanced skillset which could prove to be very useful for Erik ten Hag.

The partnership between Casemiro and Eriksen has been a huge component of United’s success so far this season, so Sabitzer has big boots to fill if he is selected over Fred or Scott McTominay to fill that void.

According to Premier League betting sites, United are 3/10 to finish in the top four this season and qualify for the Champions league – and 40/1 to win it behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

Earlier this week, the Red Devils reached the Carabao Cup final and will play Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, February 26 – the five-time winners are 8/11 to lift the trophy.
