Chelsea are preparing to complete Enzo Fernandez’s medical over in Portugal as Premier League record £105m deal edges closer.

It’s a move that sets up one of the most dramatic deadline day finale’s in history, with the deal still alive after many thought it was dead and buried.

The Blues have spent over £220m already this January, but they’re still hopeful of pulling off their biggest deal yet as talks continue with Benfica over World Cup winning Enzo Fernandez’s transfer.

If they do pull off the £105m fee, it will break the British transfer record. They now have club officials over in Lisbon to medically assess the Argentine midfielder.

The Benfica starlet has repeatedly told his club that he wants the move to Stamford Bridge over recent weeks, and it could finally be happening.

Chelsea have had problems negotiating with the Portuguese club in the past few days, with the Blues wanting to structure the payments in instalments, as paying it all in one go will have significant financial fair play and tax implications.
