James Trafford looks set to complete a transfer from Manchester City to Burnley this summer, after the Premier League champions accepted a £19m club record bid from the Clarets.

Up until this summer not many will have known the name James Trafford, but the goalkeeper has risen to stardom after his heroic performances for England during their under 21 Euro success.

The 20-year-old didn’t concede a single goal on route to England’s final with Spain and his heroics in the dying minutes of the final were simply breathtaking to watch.

Trafford saved a penalty deep into added time during the final and managed to produce another quick save to keep his record of not conceding at the tournament, as well as ensuring England won their first Euro’s since 1984.

Clearly Trafford impressed enough at the tournament to earn himself a big money move this summer, as Burnley are set to sign Manchester City’s young goalkeeper for £19m.

Not only will Burnley be paying a club record fee for Trafford, but they will also be paying their new signing five times what he was earning at City for the past season.

Trafford’s new wages will see the highly rated youngster earn £40,000 a week next season as he makes the move to Turf Moor, with a chance to make his Premier League debut at the age of just 20.

Burnley will host Manchester City in the opening game of the Premier League season on August 11th, with Trafford expected to make his full debut against his former club for new manager and former City captain Vincent Kompany.
