Crystal Palace Team News

The key injury news for Crystal Palace ahead of Wednesday night’s game is that Joachim Andersen may not be fit to play, after the Danish centre back picked up a calf injury against Chelsea that forced him off the field.

James Tomkins was on hand to replace Andersen against Chelsea in the first half of their 1-0 loss and the 33-year old is expected to start in place of Anderson should the Dane not feature.

There isn’t any other notable new injury news for Palace however and manager Patrick Vieira’s biggest headache will be who to start up front against United, as he has called for his players to be more clinical on Wednesday than they were against Chelsea:

“We went toe-to-toe with Chelsea and we will try to do the same against United. With a little bit of luck, we can score those goals.

“We have to compete on the field with the quality, ambition and values we have. We will compete, and this is good for the football club.”

Vieira has the option to start either Odsonne Edouard up top with Wilfried Zaha on the wing, or start Zaha down the middle with Eberechi Eze in support.

The Palace manager has called for his squad to be more clinical against United than they were in their close defeat to Chelsea, so who he starts up front will have a lot of pressure on them.

Manchester United Team News

Weghorst signed for United from Burnley last week and after the Dutch striker scored nine goals on loan in 18 games for Besiktas, he will be eager to get going and is set to be in the squad for United’s trip to Palace on Wednesday.

One new signing who is unavailable for selection on Wednesday night is Jack Butland, as he is on loan from Palace so cannot play against his parent club.

Both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial picked up knocks during the derby win on Saturday and will be assessed ahead of the midweek fixture, however both are expected to play.

Two players who are just one booking away from suspension are Casemiro and Fred. If either of the Brazilians pick up a yellow card against the Eagles then they will miss the huge game against league leaders Arsenal on Sunday.
