Roy Hodgson Confirmed As Palace Manager Ahead Of Next Season

The 75-year-old proved many wrong about his ability to still be able to manage in the Premier League as he guided Palace to safety after replacing Patrick Vieira in March.

He helped steer the club away from the drop zone and took 18 points from his 10 games in charge to achieve an 11th place finish.

The popular figure at Selhurst Park has seen his hard work rewarded and he will remain in charge for at least another season.

Roy Hodgson Speaks Out On Extending Stay At Palace

Hodgson says he is “immensely pleased and proud” to be staying at the Eagles.

“I know what a fantastic squad we have here,” he added. “It’s a great blend of youth and potential, alongside experienced players with Premier League and international pedigree.

“I have spoken with the chairman [Steve Parish] at length and we agreed that we must be ambitious in getting the most out of such talent.

“As such, we have set ourselves the target of a top-half finish, which we believe is eminently achievable with such a fabulous group of players and the most magnificent supporters who get behind the team, week in, week out.”

Palace were in desperate need of a change before they got rid of Vieira earlier on this year, and Hodgson stepped in at the perfect time to help his boyhood club out.

The former England boss has had an illustrious managerial career which has included stints at Inter Milan, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Liverpool, Watford and West Brom, while he has also been in charge of national sides Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and Finland.
