Coventry vs Maidstone Preview
The FA Cup’s lowest-ranked remaining side Maidstone head to the Coventry Building Society Arena to take on Championship outfit Coventry in the fifth round on Monday evening, where they’ll be aiming to make even more history by advancing the quarter-finals.
George Elokobi’s National League South side defied all odds to reach this stage of the competition, besting Premier League promotion chasers Ipswich Town 2-1 at Portman Road in the fourth round.
They followed that historic victory up with two wins in the league, but have since failed to record a victory in their last two outings – most recently falling to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Aveley last Monday.
Coventry on the other hand, booked their place in the fifth round via a thumping 4-1 win over fellow second division side Sheffield Wednesday, and also come into this one off the back of a league defeat.
Mark Robins’ men could’ve moved within a point of the play-off positions had they won on Saturday, however it wasn’t to be as they were well beaten 3-0 by Preston North End at home to end their four game unbeaten run.

The hosts are expected to make several changes for Maidstone’s visit on Monday evening, with the likes of Kasey Palmer, Jake Bidwell, Victor Torp, Matt Godden and Liam Kelly in line for starts after making substitute appearances in the defeat to Preston last time out.
Liam Kitching is expected to be recalled into the defence, and so is second choice goalkeeper Brad Collins, while Japanese winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is unavailable after being forced off with a serious injury at the weekend.
