The fifth round gets underway this evening, and we are taking a look at the latest Chris Sutton FA Cup prediction for Fulham vs Leeds, with the former Premier League striker expecting the home side to secure safe passage to the quarter-finals.

The hosts this evening Fulham endured a taxing a fourth round in this year’s FA Cup after being forced to a replay by Championship side Sunderland, eventually prevailing after a late scare at the Stadium of Light thanks to a Layvin Kurzawa winner.

As for their fifth round opponents Leeds, they had little trouble dispatching of League One strugglers Accrington Stanley with a comfortable 3-1 victory, while their emphatic 5-2 victory over Cardiff in the third round saw Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnoto register a brace each.

These two have already met once this season in the Premier League, where the Cottagers ran out eventual 3-2 victors back in October, and BBC pundit Chris Sutton is expecting a similar result tonight.

The former Blackburn and Celtic striker highlighted the precarious position Leeds find themselves in near the foot of the table, and believes this may lead them to have their attention turned towards survival, rather than progressing in the FA Cup.

He said: “Leeds got the victory they had been waiting for on Saturday, in Javi Gracia’s first game in charge.

“Avoiding relegation is clearly going to be Gracia’s priority from here – they are away at Chelsea on Saturday in their next league match and they will see that as being winnable.

“So, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gracia rest some of his players and, on that basis, you have to fancy Fulham to progress.

“It doesn’t always work out as simply as that, of course, but Fulham do not have to worry about going down so they can view the FA Cup differently. I’m expecting them to give this a bit more of a go, and they certainly should do.”

He also gave his scoreline prediction and expects Fulham to register a clean sheet in a comfortable 2-0 home win. Should you be incline to agree with Sutton, BetUK are offering 9.5/1 on that exact scoreline at the time of writing.
