With this in mind, Wobwobwob is interesting from stall 1. This Keatley runner has run well twice on softer ground this year already and after running out of steam over a mile the last day will like the drop back in trip, plus also gets in here with only 8-6 to carry. 64% of the last 14 winners won with 8-10 or less in weight. Croupier, with the in-form Ryan Moore riding, and CD winner Red Mirage can also get involved.

SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 CHESTER ITV RACING TIPS: The David Baron runner Baryshnikov won this race 12 months ago and looks worth sticking with back off the same mark. He’s blown away the cobwebs with two fair runs this year and this would have been a target for him during this early part of the season. Add in the in-form Billy Loughnane booked to ride, who can claim 3lbs, and proven form with give underfoot – then all is in place for a solid title defence. The Ryan Moore ride Savvy Victory will be popular too, and of those at bigger priced Fantastic Fox can’t be discounted.

SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 CHESTER ITV RACING TIPS: Ryan Moore has ridden 4 of the last 6 winners of this race and will be all the rage to add to that tally here. He rides the Aidan O’Brien runner Point Lonsdale, who is already as short as 4/1 for the Coronation Cup next month. This 4 year-old returned this season to win the Alleged Stakes at the Curragh last month and has top form with give in the ground. Foxes Tales and Poker Face can fight it out for the places.

SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 CHESTER ITV RACING TIPS: As always, many chances here in the Chester Cup, with 17 runners entered. The Chester Cup trends tell us that horses aged 7 or younger have the best record, while also respect those carrying 9-2 or less and from stalls 7 or lower. It’s also not been a great race for favourites, with just 4 winning market leaders since 1975. We will also see the 2021 winner Falcon Eight back to try and regain his title and Ryan Moore has been booked to ride.
But the call here is Zoffee for the Hugo Palmer yard. This 7 year-old has a tidy draw in 3 and ran a cracker to be 4th in the Cesarewitch last season at Newmarket. He’s a horse that’s gone well off a break in the past so the 216-day lay-off is fine, plus has an overall consistent profile on the flat (turf) with 11 top 3 finishes from 15.
The low-weighted Law Of The Sea for Ian Williams, who won this race in 2018, looks worth an interest of those at bigger prices, while the Hollie Doyle/Alan King runner Tritonic adds a bit of class and comes here fit from the hurdles.

3:45 – Boodles Darley Maiden Stakes (GBB Race) Cl2 (3yo) 1m4½f ITV4
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 CHESTER ITV RACING TIPS: Not a lot to go on in the final ITV race at the 2023 Chester May Meeting, so the safe call is to stick with the Ryan Moore-ridden Banderas. This Michael Bell runner has at least had three runs and despite yet to win a race showed improved form the last day to run a head second at Newbury on softer ground. Newcomers King Of The Plains and Epsom Derby entry Mediveal Gold should be noted in the betting in a race that might not take a lot of winning for an inexperienced sort.
