Cheltenham Lucky 15 Tips On Day One: Willie Mullins Expected To Have a Good Opening Day

2.10: Sporting Life Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices’ Chase ITV1 – JONBON @ 7/4 with BoyleSports
Jonbon saw the back on Constitution Hill in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle last season – but so did a lot of other horses. This Nicky Henderson runner has since switched to fences and has done nothing wrong – winning all three. Yes, this last success at Warwick was hard-fought, but the stiffer track here at Cheltenham will suit. El Fabiolo is a worthy danger, but Jonbon got the better of this horse last season at Aintree.
4.10: Close Brothers Mares’ Hurdle ITV1 – MARIE’S ROCK @ 5/2 with BoyleSports
Nicky Henderson’s star mare – Marie’s Rock – won this race 12 months ago and can become the first back-to-back winner since Quevega. She had been mentioned of running in the Stayers’ Hurdle on Thursday, but connections have decided on her defending her crown. It’s a tough race on paper with the 2020 winner Honeysuckle one challenger. However, Marie’s Rock has won her last four and at the age of 8 is coming here at the peak of her career.
5.30: NH Challenge Cup Novices’ Chase RTV – GAILLARD DU MESNIL @ Evs with BoyleSports
Gaillard Du Mesnil is not a quick horse, but that won’t matter over this 3m6f trip. Was third in the Irish Grand National last season and has since run well at Leopardstown, when third to Mighty Potter. Staying the trip will be fine and top amateur Patrick Mullins rides, who won this in 2018.
