Chelsea vs Liverpool Betting Tip 1: Over 2.5 Goals

Rather incredibly, all four of the previous meetings between these two have resulted in 0-0 draws, but we are expecting this intriguing season opener to buck that trend.

There is far too much attacking impetus being displayed both by in pre-season for us to suggest another goalless stalemate, while neither team have been particularly impressive defensively.

Liverpool have moved quickly to remedy a shaky midfield from last season, but there is almost no defensive protection among their current options after Fabinho departed earlier this month.

As for Chelsea, they should be enthused by the return of both of their starting full-backs, as well as Levi Colwill, whose return after a successful loan spell should spark new life into a notoriously leaky defence.

However, Liverpool have more than enough firepower to wipe a Blues clean sheet from the scoreboard, and we expect they’ll find the net.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Betting Tip 2: Both Teams To Score

The last four times these two sides have met in all competitions, both teams have failed to score. The last time both teams scored in this fixture was at Stamford Bridge back in January 2021, with the hosts coming back from two goals down to draw 2-2.

Despite the form and statistics pointing towards both teams not scoring in this one, it is about time we had a goal fest between Liverpool and Chelsea. As it is the first game of the season and both teams are relatively unknown forces so to speak, it will be an interesting game to say the least.

Mauricio Pochettino will be confident of his side claiming all three points at home in his first competitive game in charge,  meanwhile Jurgen Klopp will have his sights set to winning the Premier League title once again. Expect fireworks in this one between two very attacking teams.

Chelsea have scored 13 goals in their five pre-season games so far, with Liverpool scoring at least three goals in each of their four pre-season games so far. Do not be surprised to see a high-scoring affair here between these two!

Chelsea vs Liverpool Betting Tip 2: Chelsea to Win

After one of the worst season in the clubs history, Chelsea will be looking for a much improved season this time around in the Premier League. The Blues finished 12th in the table last year, ultimately finishing closer to the relegation zone than the European places.

Now, former Tottenham Hotspur and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has been appointed as the new boss at Stamford Bridge. He has made several changes since coming to London, which judging by pre-season has reaped some huge benefits.

Chelsea are underdogs here and it is easy to see why considering their abysmal season last year. However, Pochettino has them playing well in pre-season, as well as shaking up his squad. There seems to be a feel good factor around Stamford Bridge right now, and home advantage could play a big part in this one against a strong Liverpool outfit.

Despite a poor season last term, Chelsea didn’t lose to Liverpool. In fact, the last six meetings between the two clubs have resulted in a share of the spoils. Chelsea’s last win against Liverpool was at Anfield back in March 2021, with their last home triumph over Klopp’s Reds coming in March 2020.

Here at SportsLens we can see them ending that run and claiming all three points at Stamford Bridge in the late kick-off on Premier League Super Sunday this weekend.
