The club’s new home shirt will be unveiled on Monday ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, but the ongoing matter of Chelsea’s sponsor for next season is yet to be resolved.

Despite entering into multiple negotiations with globally recognised brands, Chelsea will be unveiling their new home shirt next week without a sponsor.

For all you football purists out there, a shirt absent of any sponsors is an appealing prospect. However, it is a worrying scenario for those in charge of commercial dealings for the Blues, with senior figures scurrying to secure a lucrative partnership after the club reported operational losses of over £100m last year.

Of course, a mass exodus of players has helped someway to recouping that deficit with eight players making way for a total of around £187m, while also significantly trimming the wage bill.

As for their ongoing search for a official Chelsea sponsor, a deal appeared close with streaming service Paramount+ last week before the Premier League blocked the offer, citing fears of upsetting the league’s existing television rights holders.

Mutterings of a partnership with betting operator Stake were quickly shut down by the Chelsea hierarchy, who are keen to avoid gambling sponsors ahead of the ban on front-of-shirt sponsors, which comes into effect in 2025.

Although there have been no more indications as to who the club’s new sponsor will be, German insurance company Allianz were reportedly interested in a mighty investment that would see them also claim naming rights to their stadium – whether it be Stamford Bridge or proposed plans for a future development elsewhere.

Allianz already boast an impressive portfolio of global football brands, sponsoring both Juventus and Bayern Munich where their brand name can be seen emblazoned on the outside of their stadiums, and on matchday shirts.
