Chelsea have reportedly rejected a £40m bid from West Ham for English midfielder, Conor Gallagher, who is set to leave the club this summer.
The Hammers submitted their initial bid yesterday afternoon and according to reports, the Blues have rejected in the hopes of securing £50m for the England international.
Conor Gallagher has established himself as a Premier League player over recent seasons, making 99 appearances in England’s top-flight.
However, after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign at Stamford Bridge, where the former Crystal Palace loanee made 45 appearances in all competitions, his future at Chelsea has been surrounded with uncertainty.
During England’s most recent international fixtures, Gallagher opened up about a ‘tough’ season and his determination to stay at his boyhood club.
The Blues ace said: “I love Chelsea, it has been a tough season for me and the whole team so I think we will just be working hard to get us back to where we belong.”
A move to West Ham is still on the cards, however, as reports expect the Hammers to offer an improved bid and David Moyes is keen to bolster his side following a successful campaign last season.

David Moyes will be looking to strengthen his side after winning the Europa Conference League, which will see the side from east London compete in the Europa League next season.
European form was not an issue for the Scottish manager, as his side remained unbeaten during their run to the trophy. However, Premier League performances were far from this and finishing 15th may cause some concern for West Ham supporters.
Gallagher has two-years remaining on his current deal and is unlikely to extend if the Blues sign further midfielders – giving West Ham the chance to make an improved £50m bid.
The Hammers are also monitoring the current situation of Manchester United midfielder, Scott McTomiany, who could leave Old Trafford this summer.
