Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to Celtic as the club search for a long-term replacement for Joe Hart, who is out of contract this summer.

Andriy Lunin Wanted By Celtic As Hart Replacement

The Hoops are lining up a new goalkeeper with Hart’s contract set to expire this summer, with Lunin high on Rodgers’ list.

According to reports, Celtic were interested in the Ukraine international in the summer but the La Liga giants were reluctant to let him leave following the injury to Thibaut Courtois.

Lunin started the first two games of the season before Madrid struck a loan deal for Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga. This has led to the 24-year-old being unhappy with his playing time at the Bernabeu.

The Ukrainian has been at Madrid since 2018 after signing from Zoyra Luhansk, but his time in the Spanish capital may be coming to an end in the next few months.

Despite Celtic being top of the Scottish Premiership, Hart has come under fire for some of his performances so far this season.

Now 36, Hart is coming down to the final few months of his playing career, but he will likely stay at the club as a mentor/coach with his experience in-between the sticks.

The Hoops have Benjy Siegrist and Scott Bain has back-up, but are keen to bring in a new number one in the summer or even January.

Rodgers’ side were also been linked with Liverpool shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher in the summer, but Jurgen Klopp does not want to let the Irishman leave Anfield.

Kelleher is Liverpool’s back-up for Alisson Becker and has featured in both the Europa League and Carabao Cup this season.
