Arsenal closed the gap at the top of the Premier League table with an emphatic 5-0 victory on the road against Burnley – reducing Liverpool’s lead in first to two points.
The Gunners extended a five-game win streak in the league over the last month, following victories over Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and West Ham.
Burnley remain 19th in the standings, tied with rock bottom Sheffield United on 13 points – and Vincent Kompany’s men haven’t picked up three points since before Christmas.
Martin Odegaard opened the scoring after just four minutes before Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal‘s lead from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time.
Just as they did to start the encounter, the visitors came out of the gate quick for the second period with Saka finding his second of the game inside the first two minutes.
Leandro Trossard scored Arsenal’s fourth shortly after and Kai Havertz put the cherry on top of a five-star performance from Mikel Arteta‘s title challengers.
Arsenal conceded 0.00(xGOT) against the hosts and it was yet another dominant performance from the North Londoners to keep the pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City.
What Next For Burnley & Arsenal?
Arsenal will look ahead the first leg of their European knockout tie against Porto in midweek, with Champions League betting sites pricing the Gunners as 8/11 favourites in Portugal.
As for Burnley, the wait continues for the Clarets to find their first win of the year but that task appears doable with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth to follow in the fixture list.
