QIPCO British Champions Day: Ascot (Sat, 15th Oct)
Horse racing fans will be licking their lips this Saturday as it’s Ascot’s QIPCO British Champions Day at the Berkshire track – one of the end-of-season highlights of the flat campaign, with no fewer than four top Group One races crammed into the six-race schedule.
Plenty of big names in action too and many that have tasted this meeting in the past. So, we’ve picked out three of the main players and plonked them in a tasty-looking Ascot Champions Day Treble.

British Champions Day Banker Treble with 10bet
Just click the bet slip below and head over to 10bet where you can back our Ascot Champions Day ‘Banker Treble’ @ 11/2 with 10bet ahead of Saturday’s big meeting. Plus, read on to find out more about the three Ascot best bets that been given the ‘banker’ status – a ÂŁ10 stake on our treble pays ÂŁ67.10 (see our bet slip below)!
1:25 – Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup (Group 2) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (3yo+) 2m ITV
TRUESHAN @ 15/8 with 10bet – One of the leading long distance ‘cup horses’ around at the moment and has won this race for the last two seasons for trainer Alan King and Hollie Doyle. He’s back for more this Saturday to defend his crown and despite a shock loser at 2/9 last time in the Doncaster Cup is taken to bounce back to winning ways.
Trueshan is 2-from-2 at Ascot, and although he takes on Coltrane, who beat him last time, again, the return to this venue is a plus, being well-suited by the stiff finish. Irish Cesarewitch winner, Waterville, and this year’s St Leger hero Eldar Eldarov, will be decent opponents for Trueshan to master and it won’t be easy giving away 9lbs to that pair.
However, Trueshan, at 6 years-old, brings experience to the table and is the current champion – he’s taken to join the likes of Persian Punch and Further Flight, who won this race 3+ times during their careers.

3:20 – Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Sponsored By Qipco) (Group 1) (British Champions Mile) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m ITV
INSPIRAL @ 10/11 with 10bet – A classy filly that heads into the QEII Stakes having lost only one of her seven starts. That defeat came in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket back in July, but with the race coming only 21 days after her easy Royal Ascot win, then many feel she needs more time between races and that was the excuse.
She returned to winning ways in the middle of August in the Jacques le Marois at Deauville (watch below) and having had 2 months to get over that run, will head to Ascot freshened up again.
Frankie Dettori rides this Gosden-trained filly and the pair teamed-up with another Cheveley Park-owned mare in 2017 when Persuasive did the business. Being a female Inspiral also gets a handy 3lbs and 6lbs off most of the others in the race and even though it won’t be easy for her taking on the boys here she’s expected to fly the ‘Girl Power’ flag here and get the job done.

4:00 – Qipco Champion Stakes (British Champions Middle Distance) (Group 1) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m2f ITV
BAAEED @ 2/9 with 10bet – Will be many people’s ‘Super Banker’ at Champions Day this year and it’s hard to disagree that tag. This William Haggas-trained 4 year-old has won all 10 starts and was impressive again when taking the Juddmonte International at York last time (watch below).
That last run was his first try beyond a mile, but this son of Sea The Stars took the extra yardage in his stride. He’s rated 8lbs clear of his nearest rival, the 2021 Epsom Derby winner Adayar, and is currently the second highest-rated racehorse in the world.
Ascot racegoers will be witnessing his final race though, as he’s off to stud after this – but he’s fully expected to be heading off to his new career with a haul of 11 wins to his name!
