In the latest Manchester City transfer news, Brentford boss Thomas Frank has dismissed rumours linking Scottish defender Aaron Hickey with a move to the Etihad this summer.

Following reports linking Scottish defender Aaron Hickey with a move to Manchester City, Brentford boss Thomas Frank has come out and dismissed the claims.

First reported by the Sun, the claim came as Pep Guardiola was said to be looking to sign ‘modern’ wide defenders, amid the departure of Joao Cancelo and potentially Kyle Walker.

Hickey joined Brentford in the summer from Bologna, impressing during his time in London.

Having featured 20 times for the Bees this term, Hickey has featured on both the left and right of their defence.

Following his move to Brentford, Hickey has become a regular for the Scottish national team.

At just 20-years-old, the Hearts academy product has already racked up nine appearances for his country at senior level.

This has reportedly sparked interest in the defender from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

But now, Frank has denied the rumours – confirming that the club won’t sell him, but admitted that he has a bright future ahead of him.

“We will not sell him. He’s not even been here a year.” Frank said.

“With all due respect, I think he’s a very good young player that I think has a fantastic future ahead of him.

“There needs to be a little bit more to get into the City team in terms of performances.

“I think he’s done well and I really like him. I think he can get up there.”
