Relegation-battling Bournemouth have confirmed the permanent signing of Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo from Bristol City.

Crystal Palace and several other Premier League sides are said to have been interested in signing Semenyo, but the forward makes the move to the south coast with the Cherries.

The deal is believed to be worth £9 million, with an additional £1.5m in add-ons, with the 6-time Ghana international signing on a four-and-a-half year contract, with an option for a further year.

During his time at Ashton Gate, the 23-year-old made a total of 125 appearances, scoring a total of 21 goals, as well as 22 assists.

This season, Semenyo played 23 Championship matches, scoring six goals, and providing three assists.

He recently featured for Ghana at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, playing against the likes of Portugal and Uruguay.

Upon confirmation of his signing with the Cherries, Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake had his say.

“Antoine is an exciting player and one we have monitored for a while.

“He had interest from elsewhere and so we’re delighted to welcome him to the club.”

The forward becomes the third signing of the January transfer window at the Vitality, following the arrivals of Dango Ouattara and Darren Randolph.

Gary O’Neil will be hoping that the forward can boost his side’s goalscoring numbers, as they look to avoid relegation.

Bournemouth currently find themselves in 18th in the Premier League table.

According to Premier League betting sites, the Cherries are the favourites to go down.
