Biggest Market Value Increases Since The Start Of The 2023/24 Season

5. Karim Konate (RB Salzburg) €6m ⇨ €15m

Sneaking in at number five is 2004-born Karim Konate, who is quickly emerging as one of the brightest centre-forward talents in Europe.

The Ivorian, who spent the majority of last season on loan at Austrian second division side FC Leifring, returned to his parent club RB Salzburg for the new season.

He has since netted four goals in eight appearances, including a spectacular brace on match day two of the Austrian Bundesliga.

He also made his Champions League debut in their win over Benfica, and is expected to garner a significant amount of interest from around Europe this season.

4. Carlos Forbs (Borjes) (Ajax) €0 ⇨ €10m

For all the turmoil swirling about the club at this moment in time, Ajax’s perpetual talent mill has shown no signs of slowing down.

Carlos Forbs (Borges) didn’t emerge from their famed academy, but the club’s ability to identify the best prospects in Europe has one again paid dividends.

After a deal with West Ham fell through, the former Manchester City U21 winger opted for a switch to Ajax in the summer off the back of a goal-laden 2022/23, where he netted 25 goals and provided 13 assists.

Now featuring in his first full senior season, the 19-year-old has yet to get off the mark in the Eredivisie, but he set the Europa League alight with a goal and assist against Marseille last week.

3. James Trafford (Burnley) €2.5 ⇨ €15m

After enjoying a spectacular Euro winning campaign for England’s U21 side over the summer, James Trafford opted for a £15m move to newly-promoted Burnley.

Prior to his summer switch, Trafford had never featured in either of the top two leagues in English football, although a two-season loan spell at Bolton proved hugely beneficial as he was voted in the League One team of the season in 2023.

The third most expensive goalkeeper in British history has endured a tough start to life in the top-flight, with Burnley currently the second-leakiest defence in the Premier League. However, at just 20-years-old, the sky could be the limit for Trafford.

2. Vitor Roque (Athletico Paranaense) €18m ⇨ €32m

A name you may recognise but a player you probably aren’t familiar with yet, Vitor Roque will join Barcelona in the summer of 2024. There was a possibility for him to join as early as January, but a nasty injury last week will likely see him stay put for the time being.

Presumably with a view to being the long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, Barca’s insistence to get a deal done saw them tussle with Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense, which eventually saw them settle for a pre-contract agreement.

Prior to Barcelona’s announcement, Roque was one of the most highly sought-after young forwards in world football, and at just 18-years-old he has already been capped by Brazil.

A total of 20 goals and eight assists is an impressive return for a teenager, and his tenacity and low centre of gravity has been likened to Sergio Aguero.

1. Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) €0m ⇨ €25m

From one future Barcelona star to one that has hit the ground running this season, Lamine Yamal is breaking all sorts of records.

He surpassed Ansu Fati as the club’s youngest ever debutant at 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days old last April, and has gone on to register himself as a crucial component of Xavi’s rapidly improving side this term.

Yamal was named man of the match after clocking in with two assists on match day three against Villarreal, and earlier this month he broke his club teammate and compatriot Gavi’s record for the youngest player and goalscorer for Spain.

Now valued at €25m at just 16-years-old, he holds the biggest market value increase of any player this season.
