Betfair Chase Betting Trends 2022 For Haydock Race
82% Of The Last 17 Winners Had Won a Grade One
A big Betfair Chase trend to start with and even though the bulk of the five expected runners tick this stat, the Joe Tizzard-trained Eldorado Allen does fall down here having yet to achieve a Grade One victory.
13 Of The Last 17 Betfair Chase Winners Placed In Top 3 Last Time
76% of the last 17 Betfair Chase winners recorded a top three finish last time out, which is a tick in the right box for last year’s winner A Plus Tard, who was last seen winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March, Frodon, who landed the Badger Ales Chase last time and Eldorado Allen after a second in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.
However, this would be a Betfair Chase trend that Protektorat and three-time winner of this race Bristol De Mai fall down on.
Previous Haydock Experience ‘A Plus’ Tard
The hot favourite and easy winner of the race, A Plus Tard, of course, has previous track experience like of Betfair Chase runners and with 76% of the last 17 winners having raced at Haydock in the past this is another stat to look for.
Bristol De Mai is a three-time winner of the race, so is another proven at the track. In fact Bristol De Mai’s overall record at the venue reads 1-1-1-1-2-1-PU-2, so has only been out the first two once from 8 runs at Haydock with 5 wins.
90% Of The Last 10 Winners Aged 9 Or Younger
Since this race was first run back in 2005, we’ve seen winners aged 6 up to 11, but the 17 renewals have only had three double-figure aged winners – Snoopy Loopy, Kauto Star (watch below) and Cue Card.
Therefore, the horses aged 9 or younger have the best records, with 3 of the last 4 aged 7. Slightly surprising is that we’ve only have two 8 year-old winners (17 runs), so last year’s winner A Plus Tard, who is now 8, will be trying to improve that record.
Respect The Tizzard, Twiston-Davies and Paul Nicholls Stables
Of the five potential Betfair Chase winners only the Dan Skelton yard are yet to win the race. Last year the Henry de Bromhead yard grabbed their first success in the Grade One, but it’s been a prize dominated by Paul Nicholls (6 wins), Nigel Twiston-Davies (4 wins) and Colin Tizzard (4 wins) – meaning the trio have remarkably won 14 of the 17 runnings of the race between them.
