AUGUSTE RODIN flopped in the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas back in May, when finishing 12th of the 14 runners. However, this classy Deep Impact colt bounced back to form when upped in trip for the first time when winning the 2023 Epsom Derby in June.
Since then, this Aidan O’Brien-trained 3 year-old has won the Irish Derby at the Curragh in early July and despite another flop in the King George at Ascot – he returned to form again last time when winning the Irish Champion Stakes.
He also beat King Of Steel for the second time in his most recent race, having seen off the Roger Varian horse in the Derby too. Being a 3 year-old, he will also get a handy 4lbs weight allowance from some of the older horses in the race.
Next for the Derby winner is the Breeders’ Cup Turf on Saturday, with the US race being shown in the UK at 9:50pm.
This has also been a great race for the European runners – winning 80% of the last 10 runnings, while trainer Aidan O’Brien has a top record in the race with six past wins – the most of any stable.
Auguste Rodin is currently one of the Breeders’ Cup Turf favourites with Mostahdaf.
