Barcelona are growing increasingly confident in their approach for Manchester City star, Joao Cancelo, as the defender looks to leave the club this summer.
The Spanish giants are coming off a terrific domestic season, winning the league by 11 points and beating fierce rivals, Real Madrid, in both league fixtures.
Summer signing Robert Lewandowski, had a superb start to his Barcelona career as he ended the season as the club’s leading goalscorer – finding the back of the net 23 times.
However, despite these performances in the league, the Catalan side failed to impress in European competitions and will have to wait another season for European glory to return to the Nou Camp.
Elimination from the Champions League group stages and Europa League round of 16 play-off, has reinforced the need for a host of signings this summer.
One player that has been linked with a move to Barcelona is out-of-favour Manchester City star, Joao Cancelo, who looks unlikely to return to the Etihad as he returns following a difficult spell at Bayern Munich.

The former Juventus player has made 154 appearances for the blue side of Manchester, winning three Premier League titles and two Carabao Cups.
However, despite picking up a Champions League and FA Cup winners medal this season, the Portuguese international was not part of the squad, as he signed for Bayern Munich on loan in January.
The 29-year-old had allegedly fallen out with the Manchester City manager, despite being one of City’s key players in their title-winning campaign in 2021-22. Meaning a move away from the club was required and a return next season looks doubtful.
Barcelona are reportedly leading the race to sign Cancelo, as they look to strengthen this summer and following Jordi Alba’s departure the club are on the hunt for an additional full-back.
