The Australia cricket team would make light work of the MCC’s 11 strongest members in a fictitious Royal Rumble but danger spells when lining up against England, according to exclusive odds compiled by SportsLens.

- Australia fancied to demolish the MCC’s strongest XI following Long Room confrontations
Ahead of the Ashes Third Test on Thursday, we wondered who would come out on top in two Royal Rumble battles between England vs Australia and Australia vs 11 of the strongest MCC members.
We had our trader price up the respective brawls which could all end in tears for both countries. Forget the cricket, let’s have a scrap instead.
The Ashes Royal Rumble Odds
- England – 1/2
- Australia – 13/8
- Strongest XI of MCC members – 14/1
- Australia – 1/50
SportsLens Head of News Lee Astley said: “It’s no surprise that England are odds-on favourites to reign supreme in a Royal Rumble show-off against Australia, which could be the only victory they’ll take after falling 2-0 down in the Ashes series.
“The Three Lions are packing some heavy hitters like the 6ft 5in Zak Crawley and Stuart Broad who can hold their own against any of the Aussies and likely carry England to victory.
“The only concern would be Ben Duckett, who stands at 5ft 7in – a full ten inches shorter than the two tallest England cricket players. Ben Stokes is 6ft 1 in and Joe Root is 6ft, so the English certainly aren’t short of firepower.
“The Aussies boast some strong size as well, though. Mitchell Starc, Jason Behrendorff and Pat Cummins each stand at 6ft 4 in whilst Jackson Bird is 6ft 5 in.
“Their price of 13/8 seems fair and it’d be interesting to see Duckett up against his fellow 5ft 7in compatriots Matthew Wade and David Warner alongside the 5ft 9in pair of Aaron Finch and Steve Smith.”
Strongest XI of MCC members handed almost zero chance vs Australia
Usman Khawaja and David Warner were involved in altercations in the Long Room as they walked off for lunch which led to the suspension of three MCC members on day five of the second Test last week.
The Aussies branded the members’ behaviour as ‘disrespectful’ and SportsLens traders reckon even the strongest XI of MCC members are a 14/1 shot against the Australian team.
1/50 sounds like a fair price for Australia to get their revenge in a Royal Rumble showdown, but with a 2-0 lead in the Ashes they’ll be comfortable making that victory a priority.
