Manchester United remain firmly in the driving seat in the latest Rasmus Hojlund next club odds market, but the extent of their interest in the Dane appears speculative as he reveals no advanced talks have been held.

Manchester United have made no secret of their desire for a proven marksman, having lent on Marcus Rashford this season to provide a large chunk of their goals.

Not since Romelu Lukaku’s 27-goal season five years ago have the Red Devils had a prolific number nine, and having scored the least goals out of the Premier League‘s top six by a margin of 10 goals, their desperate search for a central striker appears to be the priority this summer.

The future of long-time target Harry Kane remains an ambiguous scenario; will he stay, will he go? We are still none the wiser, but another frustrating, trophy-less season at Tottenham may finally force him to cut ties.

Karim Benzema’s surprise departure from Real Madrid means Los Blancos are now firmly in the picture when it comes to Kane, so if United were to make an approach, they would likely enter into a bidding war with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy knowing full-well the value of his prized asset.

Erik Ten Hag’s shortlist certainly doesn’t end there however. Atalanta’s blossoming centre-forward Rasmus Hojlund, who has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, has broken silence over United’s reported interest.

Speaking to Danish outlet Berlingske, the 20-year-old said: “There has been no video call [with Manchester United].

“It’s a huge club, so I must have done something right if it says they want me. My goal is to reach the top shelf, and you can say that Manchester United is. So it will be huge.”

The imposing Atalanta striker has emerged as one of Serie A‘s brightest talents, scoring 16 goals and adding seven assists in his maiden season in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Currently away on international duty with Denmark, several reports have even suggest United’s Cristian Eriksen could play a key role in persuading the youngster to make the switch, with the duo preparing to face Northern Ireland this week.

Hojlund, who scored a hat-trick on his first start for his country back in March, also revealed he has appointed a new agent ahead of what could be a huge summer. He said: “I have found someone, but it is on a trial period.”
